With visits to the kids’ place off the table for now, we set about planning our day a bit differently. We did a bit of packing and a few other chores, before setting off with Benji to walk to the Stanley Park Tea House, Sea Wall, 2nd Beach, Peaked Pies and then home.
Below is the map of our 6.5 km. (4 mile) walk.
The skies were still a dull grey as we set off down Georgia, before bouncing off the corner of Lost Lagoon. A few leaves still remained on the weeping willows.
The rose garden looked a little sad with all the beds turned over for the winter. A few roses struggled valiantly to hang on.
We had intended to walk to Beaver Lake, but the South Park Trail was closed to clean up storm debris, so we altered course…
…stopping briefly at the Stanley Park Pavilion…
…then heading back towards Coal Harbour.
Scraggly flowers and dead leaves decorated our route.
We continued on down to the Sea Wall near the Vancouver Rowing Club. Despite the grey day, this diversion was well worth it.
The Vancouver skyline appeared like a mirage across the harbour, the reflection image slightly distorted by small surface ripples.

We lingered along the Sea Wall, enjoying the reflections and the antics of the wildlife (separate post), before walking back towards Lost Lagoon.
Flowers had appeared on another bench, providing a bit of brightness on this grey day.
As we walked on, we spotted a couple of ladies, peering at the shrubs along the path. They pointed out this little humming bird, who was just sitting there. Like us, it was probably just trying to warm up, before humming along.
Down at 2nd Beach, we could see some clearing happening to the West.
Lunchtime was approaching, so we turned back towards home. Along the way, we stopped to pick up some frozen Aussie pies from Peak Pies on Denman. The black squirrels were still chowing down on chestnuts near the Stanley Park Brewing Company & Restaurant.
Back in the rhododendron gardens, we could see a few blooms still hanging on.
Walking up Nelson Street, we spotted a few more flowers and this nicely decorated home.
Walking along Barclay Street, we caught a little different view of the Alberni.
