We woke up to a new task challenge this morning. Your mission, Parental Unit, should you decide to accept it, is to find and acquire a car seat, compatible with the stroller we recently purchased.
On the surface, this seemed easily doable, except we had just come out of the Black Friday Sales period. Now, I had been out there on Black Friday weekend, in the feeding frenzy with new Moms and Dads all scrambling for wheel deals for their kids. Strollers and car seats were simply flying off the store shelves.
Despite all the baby supply stores in the Metro area, we did not hold out much hope for success. Below is our master list to call. As soon as the stores opened, we both started calling. About 7 calls in, we struck paydirt at the Active Kids Lonsdale store and reserved one for later pickup. Phewww.
We wanted to tie the pickup in with another visit to Granville Island for fish and chips closer to lunch time. Therefore, we went for a short morning walk to Coal Harbour.
Here is the map of our walk.
This old heritage building at Jervis and Melville caught our eye.
Another grey, misty day down on the harbour.
Not many leaves left.
Business travel, Vancouver style
As we got closer to Bute Street, we began noticing animal shapes and presumed these may be part of the Christmas light-up.
Time to head back home, so we could complete our mission.

Back home, we penned Benji and climbed into the car, deep in the bowels of the parking garage. Timing ourselves, it took about 3 minutes to walk to the car and 5 minutes to drive out the garage gate. No matter, we at least had parking.
Here is the map of our drive on the day.
We drove to the Lonsdale store, parked the car and went in to claim our prize. They checked their list and after some delay, said they could not find our order. Hmmm, then where did we place the order? Turns out, I had screwed up the address and phone number for the stores and we had reserved it at the Langley store. Oh S—, that was a 47 km (29 3/8 mile) and 39 minute drive away. We were going to be late for our fish and chips.
The store Manager said not to worry, they had some of these in stock too and would call Langley and let them know we had made a mistake. Purchase made, we loaded it into the car and headed for lunch on Granville Island.
Arriving at Go Fish just before 1 PM, we placed our order and sat down to take in the views while we waited. The reflections were still great, even in or because of the flat light.

Here I am coming back with lunch – our reward for a duty well done.
Time to head to the Granville Island Public Market for some shopping and then to drop off the car seat, before heading home for coffee.
