    1. Thanks so much Kymber. I must admit I prefer them sitting on guard in a tree rather than waiting to grab a baby heron like we saw in May. Thanks for reading and commenting. Happy Tuesday. Allan

  3. Great shots and a very fitting poem. Funny you should post this today as I spotted one yesterday on our fence post. And your poem about their screech made me realize that’s what I heard when I was outside in the hot tub last night just before dusk. I

    1. Thanks Bernie. Someone else had a bald eagle post today. Must be pure coincidence. It is great to see one out and about no matter where. Nice for the control of certain pests and a sign of a healthy ecosystem. Thanks for reading and commenting. Allan

      1. I got 2 photos but the sun was in my eyes. They aren’t great but it was still cool. We had a juvenile here a couple of summers ago so I wonder if he/she has returned as an adult.

  5. Fantastic photos, Allan! It’s terrific that you were able to get some captures of them doing their surveillance. We have a pair nearby and have seen them a lot, but so far my photographic opportunities have been somewhat limited. Cheers.

    1. They were watching their youngsters perform and I wish we could have also seen the eaglets at the same time. We stood and watched them for a long time. I think they were happy to see the sun as well. Thanks for reading Lynette. Allan

  9. Do you know where their nest is? Are they nest sitting yet with young? The local eagles here seem to either be sitting on eggs or maybe one or more have hatched recently.

    1. We have not spotted their nest. These photos were in December 2023 before the year’s eaglets were gone. I think the egg laying season in the Lower Mainland may be sometime in April. In May 2023, we saw one of these parents trying to grab young herons to feed their chicks. Strangely, the crows and herons had an alliance and the eagles were unsuccessful, due to the constant harrying of the crows. Nature is beautiful and strange. Thanks for reading Sharon. Allan
