All photos taken on November 29, 2023. Happy Birthday Patty.
Due to appointments and commitments, we were postponing Patty’s birthday celebration to Saturday. That did not mean that I could not find ways to make her day more special.
Oh sure, there was laundry and showers, but there was also a leisurely breakfast with cappuccinos, before we headed out for a walk in Kitsilano. Driving would be involved, so we could also complete some errands, including a Benji walk.
Here are the maps showing our driving and walking routes.
At just 2.5 km (1 1/2 miles), the walk was not long, but it sure was scenic.
Kitsilano is a neighbourhood located in the city of Vancouver. It is named after Squamish chief August Jack Khatsahlano, and the neighbourhood is located in Vancouver’s West Side along the south shore of English Bay, between the neighbourhoods of West Point Grey and Fairview. The area is mostly residential with two main commercial areas, West 4th Avenue and West Broadway, known for their retail stores, restaurants and organic food markets.

Vancouver was doing its best to shrug off the morning fog as the sun rose.

Oh now, the Goldeneyes are coming – it seems that birds may also swim in a V formation

There are a large number of fishing boats in the marinas at Granville Island, both commercial fishers and tour operators. One lone boat loaded with crab traps makes its way into False Creek.
Looks like a good day to be a gull

At this point, we started to walk through the neighbourhood towards Siegel’s Bagels to pick up a dozen, as well as lunch. It was a short walk.
Forget about carrying a snow brush in your vehicle. Better to have a leaf blower.
Standing outside Seigel’s, I spotted this group of pigeons waiting for something, anything to dine on. Is this what Leonard Cohen’s “Bird on a Wire” song was about?
Time to walk back to the beach for an early picnic stop. Small tree with big leaves.
Lox bagel and Reuben bagels were both delicious.

Apparently crows like bagels too. They did not get a taste.
Last looks and we were off to Parthenon Market to pick up some good Greek groceries.
What a gorgeous morning.
